January No Spend Week 2- Finding the Victory

Another week of pursuing my January goals has gone by! (Refresher- no spending on frivolous things, only eating out once in a week, and doing my January Jumpstart with my house)
I feel like I'm staying up to date on my January Jumpstart and getting things decluttered and organized, and I'm still feeling motivated to keep it up!

We ended up not eating out this week, I did a good job planning ahead and we had a lot of leftovers, but we also ended up eating once at both my brothers' houses since my dad is in town.

Which brings me to my no spend. Well, most people would say I failed. I suppose I did. First of all I purchased myself a planner. I have been so focused on organizing and staying on top of things, that it just didn't feel like a purchase that I wanted to go without. Sure, I could have opted to forgo the planner, but it brings a lot of joy to me to write things down and plan.  (Yes, really, what can I say I'm an English teacher at heart) Then, because my dad is in town we did one of our favorite things together, go thrift shopping! (I sure missed my mom, because her and I do the same thing)
I don't always get to go these days; it was awesome to have help with the kids. I found some great children's board books for 10 cents each and spent 50 cents on something to help me with my grand scheme for my husband on Valentine's Day. Then I got a new set of waterwings for my daughter, after losing our other pair this summer. My sister in law is convinced they are the same pair and now I've bought them there twice, too funny. I'll be more careful to not lose them now! I grabbed a pantry container that I found, and lastly, I have had a large blush pink scarf on my "want" list for a few months ever since I bought this gray coat on the recommendation of a blogger who always wore hers with a large pink scarf. Truly, thrifting is the hunt, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity when the price was under $2! So I spent about $10 at the thrift store.
But I had a great chat with a friend the other day and she said something I really liked. "Find the victory. Yes it's great to have goals but sometimes real life sneaks in." We ate from our home all week; that's a win. I didn't make any online clothing orders; that's a win. Everything I purchased had a purpose and a place, so it was more intentional than a whim buy; that's a win. I hope to not buy anything this week. I'm not going to beat myself up. I'm going to start again. And find the victories.

Happy Monday y'all!

xoxo, Love.Haight
