So What's the Deal with Maternity Photos?

I wasn't planning on doing maternity photos before I got pregnant. Then when I was pregnant, I was even more set on not doing them. There's just something about seeing your big stomach and chest captured forever in a still image that I was just not down for.

And then my blogger friend Emily offered me a session as a baby gift. Umm... hi her photos are amazing, so I certainly wasn't going to turn that down. So suddenly I had a morning date back in the beautiful fall colors in the Black Hills of Deadwood, South Dakota. The setting was actually breathtaking. There are some bright and sunny "golden shots" and then some back in the darker woods that Emily's moody style captured the essence of spectacularly. She helped put us into a couple cute poses and played around with lighting and angles until she got some beautiful shots. I'm not such a fan of looking at my larger body right now, but I'm sure that one day it will be amazing to look back on. It was also our 3rd anniversary weekend, so taking pictures together was pretty special.
