Got a silly little project for y'all if you're as obsessed with mermaids as me!
So I got:
Sparkly scrapbooking paper in ocean colors
Stencils
Tacky Glue
I already had:
Mod Podge
Mod Podge spray glue
gold glitter
hot glue gun
Canvas
So I stenciled the word mermaid with mod podge and glittered it. Later I used a hot glue gun to add the word time and glittered that as well.
Then I cut all the papers into strips. I honestly wasn't sure what I wanted to do at this point!
Then I cut the strips into half. They were so super pretty and sparkly. And definitely mermaid-like. :)
Mod Podge did NOT work to glue the strips down onto the canvas. Aleene's tacky glue was much better.
I finally settled on placing them in a sort of ombre pattern like the ocean would be, with the darkest at the bottom and the white on the top.
Without the flash you can read the glittery words better, but it doesn't do anything in the picture justice!
Just trust me - it's gorgeous in person!
Ok this sign is seriously cute!!! I love how simple it is yet, makes a huge statement. Plus, the projects to be created with this idea are endless (who doesn't love a mermaid, though?) Thanks for the inspiration! If I come up with my own version, I will be sure to give you credit.

Jessica,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! Glad you like it! I'm loving mermaids. I would love to see your spin on the mermaid theme. I had a heck of a time with glueing the scrapbook paper so I would love to see how you handle it! Thanks !
