A Piece of My Wedding Letter + Customized Signs from Miller's Rustic Rev

Pinterest has loads of cute signs with lovely imagery and beautiful quotes in to-die-for fonts. They often look weathered, rustic, and shabby chic- all things that don't readily come from stores that sell everything to look "new." So where do you go to get such a gem? Great question. The answer? Miller's Rustic Rev - Check out her Etsy shop for all her pre-made goodies. I'm sure you'll find something you like. But if that doesn't suit your fancy, you can do what I did, and have something custom made. The owner, Hannah, is a friend of mine. She let me come behind the scenes of her creative process while she made my sign to share with all of you!

Step 1: Here you will determine the size of your sign and your base color (or if you just want stained wood!) I went with white because my room is most white and gray!

Step 2: Determine what you'd like your sign to say + any graphics (if applicable to your design!) I really wanted a piece of my letter from my husband on our wedding day.
So I shared the lines with my friend that I wanted on my sign. "I love every aspect of you. I still can't believe that I tricked you into marrying me, that ring really did some magic."
Step 3: Once she found the words, she set about getting them typed into her program so we could start picking out fonts! I told her what I wanted, and she showed me a couple that matched my criteria. Her 2nd or 3rd font was an instant winner.

Step 4: Then she had to start playing around with the words to get them to fit the board...

This definitely took some design skills on her end!

Step 5. She made and placed the stencil meticulously on the board. (This is important for the finished look!)

Step 6: Once they were placed, it was time to paint and remove the small stickers on certain letters like d and a. She had to do that with tweezers and it looked time consuming!
Step 7: Once that was accomplished, it was time for the board's second sanding and a good shot of sealer.

The sign was finally completed after hours of work!! Well I can't really complain, because I sat and drank wine while she did all the work... :)
I put the sign in the perfect place... next to a photo of him proposing, and one from our wedding day.

This sign was given to me by my friend in exchange for this blog post, but I've purchased from her in the past and can honestly say that she does great work! Having someone who can help you find the perfect font and color scheme is so important!

I hope you guys check it out, and use her shop for all your wedding, baby, shower, and decorating needs!
Thanks for my sign Hannah, and thank all you for reading!
